My acupuncture practice was established on Capitol Hill in 2001. For several years, I also worked at the Sign of Jonah Acupuncture Clinic in Columbia Heights, treating people living with HIV/AIDS and/or addictions, and later, under contract to the Walter Reed Army Medical Center, researching acupuncture’s effectiveness for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) in Iraq War veterans. Working with our wounded warriors is one of the greatest honors I’ve experienced.
Continuing education (CE) is very important to me, and I regularly take courses to stay abreast of this ancient and evolving field.
My first career was in public drinking water supply. I worked for many years for public utilities in Southern California, and later, with the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) on water supply issues in the Middle East. In preparation for my water resources career, I earned a Bachelor of Arts in Zoology from Drew University in Madison, New Jersey, and a Doctorate in Environmental Science and Engineering from UCLA. My first career was fascinating to me--and I could hardly have imagined that practicing acupuncture would be even more so!
